Burning Up The City During A Blizzard!
Posted: March 26, 2010
This past Saturday night during a rare March Texas snowstorm, the filmmakers were burning a nativity on the streets of Leonard. It sounds strange but it is all for the opening segment of the film. The haunting images were captured in a freak winter blast that dumped nearly eight inches of snow. The crew braved the freezing temps while Andrew Prine shot his first scene as Senator John Cutter. Expert pyrotechnics, the Leonard Police and Fire Department were all on hand for the event. Winter’s final blast was an intense event and the remainder of the night’s schedule was canceled. It was difficult on the production team, however the blowing snow was forever magically captured for this Christmas-themed film.

Andrew Prine playing Senator John Cutter is the catalyst for our story. Mr. Prine has worked almost fifty years in the industry in such classic films as “The Miracle Worker”, “Chisum”, “Bandolero!” and “Rooster Cogburn”, series such as “Gunsmoke”, “Wagon Train” the original “V” and most recently a two-part episode on “CSI” directed by Quentin Tarantino and has worked with industry giants such as Anne Bancroft, John Wayne, Dean Martin, Jimmy Stewart and others. We are very excited to have him aboard!

| Wheels and Deals! One of the stars of BEYOND is cars! Each character has their own vehicle and the autos must be available throughout filming. The vehicles say a lot about each character. So as you can imagine, it adds up to several different types of vehicles. From the Wells family car… to Stephen’s beat-up old Ford pick-up… to Calvin’s 2010 Porsche Panamera, it takes a force of people to make it happen. Staff members and individuals donate most vehicles. The Porsche was graciously provided by Randy Stuewe and is an important part of the film. |
| This Week! We continue our shoot in the town square of Leonard, Texas with the police station, community center and city hall. Earlier this week, the production was featured on NBC Channel 5 Dallas News. The report should be available on the BEYOND website soon. On Tuesday of next week, the production moves to Dallas and leaves Leonard. Most of next week will be night shoots in two locations and interior production in a studio soundstage. The footage is amazing and we hope to share it soon! |
Andrew Prine as Senator John Cutter
Andrew Prine braved the cold his first day of shooting to burn down the nativity set. He plays Senator John Cutter and is the catalyst for our story. I told Andrew I have been watching him for a long time. He said I’ve been watching him my whole life. He is right. An absolute honor meeting such an amiable and very talented man. I wish him continued success.
What an amazing gent. I really had a fine time getting to know him. He added such a presence on screen. Very kind man. I enjoyed his stories of working in the industry throughout the years.
I can’t believe they set a nativity on fire, Our nativity at that.
