Andrew Librizzi: Writer/Director

In the mid-nineties, Andrew Librizzi wrote, co-produced and directed his first feature film, “Holding On”. An international award winner at the Houston Worldfest Film Festival, “Holding On” acquired both domestic and international distribution through Gospel Communications International. Gary Cogill, movie critic and host of Good Morning Texas (WFAA-TV/Dallas) had the following to say about the independent feature’s honest portrayal of a young teenaged girl struggling with the issue of teen pregnancy, “Creative and confident. You have succeeded where most people fail. Not only have you made a movie, but you have made something worthwhile… Audiences will cheer!”
In addition to his feature film work, Andrew has written and directed both instruction and commercial projects for such national clients as Visa, Seimens Rolm, Palm Beach Tan and Nortel Communications and has been the recipient of a number of industry awards including five Tellys and two Communicator Awards. In 1995, Mr. Librizzi established the Desert Bloom Theatre in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. While at Desert Bloom, Andrew wrote and directed a number of mainstage romantic comedies including, “The First Church of Texaco”, “The Boxer’s Garden” and “Peanut Butter and Tofu on Jewish Rye”. Since then, Mr. Librizzi’s plays have been performed not only in DFW area, but also in professional and community theaters throughout the United States and Canada. Elaine Rewolinski, Director of Acacia Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin writes, “My words are not enough to tell you how well-received your play has been for us. The laughter and tears each night is an experience, which our patrons feel blessed to share. With every talk-back, the audience help us unravel the many themes and truths they see played out in your words.” Finally, Mr. Librizzi directed a one of the very first High Definition Television pilots called, Texas Tales and Legends. Starring Barry Corbin (“Northern Exposure” “One Tree Hill” & “No Country For Old Men”) and is slated to both write and direct it’s follow-up series, “Legends & Outlaws” in 2009. “Still Born” also written and directed by Librizzi is a dramatic short film that most recently was nominated for eleven awards and took home both Best Acting categories for Project 168 Film Festival. In addition, the film also was one of twelve finalists in the Damah Awards out of Seattle.
